Getting started

Install, sign in and dictate your first sentence.

  1. Download Sovona and run the installer.
  2. Sign in with your email and the one-time code we send.
  3. Test your microphone. Sovona picks the best speech engine and downloads it.
  4. Click into any app, hold Ctrl + Win, speak, then let go.

Dictating well

Clean, punctuated text with a few simple habits.

  1. Speak naturally in full sentences. Sovona adds punctuation and removes fillers like "um".
  2. Talking for a while? Double-tap Alt for hands-free, and again to stop.
  3. While listening: Enter pastes and sends, Tab pastes only, Esc cancels.
  4. Every dictation is also on your clipboard and saved in History.

Editing by voice

Fix and reshape text without touching the keyboard.

  1. Say "scratch that" to remove what you just said.
  2. Say "new line" or "new paragraph" to break up your text.
  3. Select any text, hold Ctrl + Win + Shift and say "make this shorter" or "more formal".
  4. Want it fully hands-free? Turn on the "Hey Sovona" wake word in Settings.

Personas and Dictionary

Your tone and your words, right every time.

  1. Pick a Persona: Professional, Casual, Email, Code, Bullet notes or Message.
  2. Let Sovona switch Persona by app, like Email in Outlook and Casual in Slack.
  3. Add names, brands and jargon to your Dictionary.
  4. Fix a word after pasting and Sovona offers to remember it.

Meetings and files

Transcripts, summaries and subtitles on your PC.

  1. Open Meeting and press record. It captures your mic and the call audio, and no bot joins.
  2. Speakers are detected and colour-coded. Rename them any time.
  3. When you stop, you get a summary, decisions and action items.
  4. Drag audio or video into Transcribe for text and subtitles (SRT or VTT).

Privacy and your data

See what stays on your PC and control all of it.

  1. Open Privacy to see what stays local and every connection the app makes.
  2. Turn on Local-only to switch off every cloud feature at once.
  3. Export anything as TXT, DOCX, PDF, Markdown, or as a full backup.
  4. Delete single items, date ranges or everything, or set History to clear itself.

Plans and billing

Trials, receipts, changing plans and cancelling.

  1. Every feature is free for 7 days. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing.
  2. In the app, open Account, then Manage billing, for receipts and card changes.
  3. Switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel, from the same place.
  4. If a plan ends, your notes and History stay readable and exportable.

Speed and performance

Sovona tunes itself to your PC.

  1. It detects your graphics card and installs the best boost pack on its own.
  2. Let the first speech engine finish downloading for the best results.
  3. On battery, Battery saver uses lighter engines to save power.
  4. Keep Sovona updated. Updates install while you're not using it.

Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for common problems.

Most problems take a minute to fix. Pick the one you're seeing.

My text wasn't pasted
  • Your words are safe: they're on your clipboard and in History. Press Ctrl + V to paste them.
  • If the app you're typing in runs as administrator, Windows stops other apps from typing into it. Paste with Ctrl + V instead.
  • No text box selected? Sovona saves the text to your clipboard and tells you.
Sovona can't hear me
  • In Sovona, open Settings, then Microphone and audio. Pick the right microphone and watch the level meter as you speak.
  • In Windows, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Microphone, and make sure desktop apps are allowed.
  • Plugged in a headset? Sovona switches to it on its own.
The shortcut does nothing
  • Check that Sovona is running. Its icon sits in the system tray, near the clock.
  • Another app may use the same keys. Settings, then Hotkeys, shows any clash and lets you pick new keys.
Some words come out wrong
  • Add the word to your Dictionary, or add a replacement rule.
  • Speaking just one language? Lock it in Settings, then Dictation.
  • Noisy room? Keep noise suppression on and speak a little closer to the microphone.
The speech engine is still downloading
  • The first engine downloads in the background after you sign in. It needs internet only this once.
  • Keep Sovona open until it finishes. Settings, then Models, shows the progress.
  • After that, dictation works fully offline.
My PC feels slow
  • Settings, then Performance, shows exactly what Sovona is using.
  • Sovona unloads speech engines after a few idle minutes, and Battery saver picks lighter ones on battery.
  • Long meeting? Close other heavy apps while recording.
My plan or trial shows as ended
  • Open Account in the app to see your plan and its end date.
  • Offline when your plan renewed? Paid plans keep working for 7 days. Go online once so Sovona can check in.
  • Think something's wrong with a charge? Contact Support and we'll sort it out.
